What is the National Project on Achievement in Twins (NatPAT)?The National Project on Achievement in Twins (NatPAT) is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and is run through the Florida Center for Reading Research at Florida State University. Dr. Sara Hart is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Florida State University. She also leads her Individual Differences in Cognitive Development Lab, which is focused on understanding why and how some students do worse than others in school. For this project, we are interested in understanding how reading and math skills develop together through elementary school. We are also interested in learning more about why some children experience difficulties in reading and math, and others do not. Twins allow us understand more about how these skills develop, namely the "nature and nurture" of the process. |
